Coast Mountains School District swears in elected trustees

Board of education holds inaugural meeting after oath of office

Coast Mountain School District 82 (SD82) held its oath of office ceremony and inaugural meeting for newly elected board of education trustees on Thursday, Nov. 18 in Terrace.

Aaron Callaghan, superintendent of schools at SD82 congratulated the new and returning trustees. The first order of business for the board was to elect the chair, vice-chair and representatives to the B.C. Public School Employers’ Association (BCPSEA) and B.C. School Trustees Association (BCSTA)

The board serves a four-year term that goes until November 2026. Here is a listing of the new board of education now officially assuming the office of school trustee following completion of their oath of office.

New trustee Sonny Duncan-Green elected by acclamation for Trustee Electoral Area 1, Kitimat

Returning trustee Karen Jonkman elected by acclamation for Trustee Electoral Area 1, Kitimat

Returning trustee Ed Harrison elected by acclamation for Trustee Electoral Area 2, Terrace

Returning trustee Margaret Warcup elected by acclamation for Trustee Electoral Area 2, Terrace

New trustee Mike Maxim elected by acclamation for Trustee Electoral Area 3, Thornhill

New trustee Wayne Jones elected for Trustee Electoral Area 4, Stewart

New trustee Julia Sundell elected for Trustee Electoral Area 5, Hazelton
