The Board of Education for Coast Mountains School District announced a shuffle of leadership positions at schools in Terrace and the Hazeltons on April 16.
In Terrace, Caledonia Secondary School vice-principal Robin MacLeod is retiring at the end of the school year after 43 years with the school district.
“We extend our sincere appreciation for her significant contribution and outstanding dedication as a teacher and leader to many learners and their families,” said Janet Meyer, superintendent, in a media release.
Joe Dominguez will serve as MacLeod’s replacement beginning Aug. 1. Dominguez is the current vice-principal of Skeena Middle School, and has worked in that role at Caledonia Secondary School in the past.
Replacing Dominguez as the vice-principal of Skeena Middle School is Darlene Bragg-Hounsell, who will be leaving her position at Thornhill Primary School. The school district is in the process of considering options for the role of principal of Thornhill Primary School.
Phillip Barron has been appointed to part-time district principal beginning on Aug. 1, in conjunction with his current role as principal of Skeena Middle School.
Vince Dikaitis will return to the position of principal at Hazelton Secondary School in December after a personal leave from April 1 to Dec. 31, 2021. Dikaitis was the interim principal at Cassie Hall Elementary School in Terrace. Steve Wallace will take over the role at Cassie Hall vacated by Dikaitis.
Paul Boisvert will return as Hazelton Secondary School’s vice-principal, and the interim vice-principal Barb Janze will return to the classroom for the upcoming school year. Jan Thorburn will become the principal of New Hazelton Elementary School after doing that job in an interim capacity.
