The City of Terrace said an official farewell to two department leaders who are moving on in their careers.

Mayor and council thanked RCMP Inspector Eric Stubbs and former fire chief Peter Weeber at a council meeting Tuesday night.

Mayor Dave Pernarowski noted the work Stubbs had done in bringing the Crime Reduction Unit to Terrace, and praised Weeber's efforts to bring in a training centre to the community, as well as heading up the BC Winter Games and the Fill the Bank campaign.

Stubbs thanked the city, saying there is a great team to work with here and the support in the last few months has been great.

“I've got nothing to say but positive things about Terrace,” he said, saying staff worked hard whether it be for Hockeyville, the torch relay, and the BC Winter Games or for tough cases like murders and missing women.

“It's been extremely enjoyable,” he said. “I've learned a lot. I think I'm a better person for living in this great city. So thank you very much."

Stubbs moves on to become the Officer in Charge of the Prince George RCMP detachment after being in the community since 2005.

Weeber left his position as fire chief last month to finish school and pursue employment in public administration.

He'd been in the department as a volunteer firefighter sine 1995, becoming a career firefighter in 2001 and fire chief in 2005.

He received his 10-year pin from Pernarowski, and thanked the city for the years. “Being a part of the City of Terrace has been an honour,” he said.
