The City of Terrace is rescinding the campfire ban issued on July 17, 2014, announced the city July 21.
Open burning of any size or description, including fires with a burn registration number and industrial burning are still restricted within the jurisdiction of the City of Terrace, but small campfires will be permitted.
The campfires must be kept to a half-metre high by a half-metre wide or smaller.
Anyone lighting a campfire must maintain a fireguard by removing flammable debris from the campfire area and must have a hand tool or at least eight litres of water available nearby to properly extinguish the fire.
Please ensure that campfires are not lit or kept burning during windy conditions.
Make sure that that the fire is fully extinguished and the ashes are cold to the touch before leaving the area for any length of time.
The Northwest Fire Centre rescinded its prohibition of campfires in the Nadina, Bulkley and Skeena Fire zones as of 4 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2014.
