Capsized boater missing in Kitimat River

Search and Rescue teams suspended operations late Saturday for a missing boater who capsized in the Kitimat river earlier in the day.

The search for the 39-year-old Alberta man will resume when water levels recede.

Four males in three inflatable boats entered the river at the 18-mile bridge and hit a log jam downstream. Three of the anglers were able to make it safely to shore.

RCMP received a call for help around 12:30 pm Saturday.

Teams from both Kitimat and Terrace Search and Rescue were on scene for air, water and ground searches.

More to come.
