BC Day long weekend full of accidents, drunk drivers and speeders

Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 173 calls for service from July 31st, 8 a.m. till August 4th, 8 a.m.

Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 173 calls for service from July 31st, 8 a.m. till August 4th, 8 a.m.

During the same time period, 34 people were lodged in Terrace cells – 22 of these people were lodged for intoxication.

Here are some of the calls responded to:

Deceased 56-year-old woman on Sparks St.

A black 2013 Ford F150 was pulled over on Hwy 16 for going 152 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone. The vehicle he was driving was impounded.

A green 2000 GMC Sierra collided with a grey 2014 GMC Sierra at Desjardins Ave./River Dr. Both vehicles were towed due to extensive damage. The driver and passenger of the 2014 GMC suffered minor injuries.

A white 2014 Ford F250 was pulled over. The 33-year-old driver provided two samples of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in a warn. He was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition.

A blue Volkswagen Beetle hit the ditch and rolled on Kalum Lake Rd. The 65-year-old driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital via BC Ambulance. The vehicle was towed.

Domestic assault. A woman suffered minor injuries. Police arrested a 23-year-old woman. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

A grey 1998 Honda Civic was pulled over for going 115km/hr in an 80 km/hr zone at Hwy 37/Krumm Rd. The Honda was impounded.

A Pontiac Sunfire was pulled over on Hwy 16. The 26-year-old driver was prohibited from driving. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

A black Ford Focus was pulled over for going 107 km/hr in a 60 km/hr zone on Hwy 16 at the Kitsumkalum Reserve. The Ford was impounded.

A white Jeep stolen out of Smithers was found parked at Park Ave./Atwood St. The vehicle was seized for investigation.

A man drinking alcohol and urinating in public at the Thornhill Elementary School. Checks determined that the man was breaching numerous conditions of a conditional sentence order. The 32-year-old man was arrested and held for court.

Possible impaired driver in a dark coloured Mazda 3 travelling to Terrace. The described vehicle was pulled over on Hwy 16 near River Dr. The 24-year-old driver refused to provide a sample of breath into a roadside screening device. She was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle she was driving was impounded.

Breach of a no contact condition. A 29-year-old man was arrested. He was held for court.

A red Dodge Dakota was pulled over on Hwy 16 at Ferry Island. The driver provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in a fail. He was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.

A man pinned under his vehicle on Hwy 113 in the Rosswood Area. Investigation determined that it was an intoxicated man passed out under his vehicle while changing a flat tire. The brown GMC 2500 was towed.

A blue Chrysler Sebring was pulled over on Lakelse Ave. The 26-year-old driver was prohibited from driving. Charges are being forwarded to court.

A grey Chevrolet Trailblazer was pulled over on Hwy 16 near Gossen for going 168 km/hr in a 90 km/hr zone. The vehicle was impounded.

A red GMC Sierra truck was pulled over on Molitor St./Keith Ave. The driver failed to provide a sample of breath into a roadside screening device. He was served an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.

A blue Dodge Ram was pulled over on Old Lakelse Lake Dr. north of Crescent St. An amount of drugs was seized from the vehicle. Under investigation.

A grey GMC Sierra truck was pulled over in a checkstop on Old Lakelse Lake Dr. The driver provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in a warn. She was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition.

A man uttered threats to a security guard. Police arrested a 42-year-old man. An amount of drugs were seized from his person. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

Domestic dispute in a hotel room on Hwy 16. A woman suffered injuries. Police arrested a 19-year-old man. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

Domestic dispute. Police arrested a 21-year-old man. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

Theft of gas investigation. A white Grand Prix being driven by a woman filled up with more than the prepaid amount. Under investigation.

An orange Supercycle bike with black handles was stolen from the back of Kal Tire during the night of August 1st/2nd.

Deceased 68-year-old woman on Kleanza Dr.

A Toyota 4 Runner hit the ditch and rolled down an embankment on Hwy 16 near Delta Creek. No injuries.

A grey Chevrolet Silverado was pulled over on Queensway Dr./Thornhill Cr during a road check. The 27-year-old driver was prohibited from driving. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel. The vehicle was impounded.

A brown 2012 Toyota Tundra truck hit the ditch and rolled onto its side on Hwy 37 south of the airport. No injuries. The truck was towed.

A suicidal youth attended to the detachment seeking help. Police apprehended the youth under the Mental Health Act and transported her to Mills Memorial Hospital.

A woman breaching her condition of no go to Terrace. Police arrested the 22-year-old woman. She was held for court.
