Aggressive panhandler arrested inside Mills Memorial Hospital

THE Terrace RCMP have responded to approximately 88 calls for service from May 10, 8 AM till May 13 8 AM.

THE Terrace RCMP have responded to approximately 88 calls for service from May 10, 8 AM till May 13 8 AM. During the same time period there have been 19 people lodged in Terrace Cells. 13 of these people were lodged for public intoxication.

Here are some of the calls responded to:

Theft of an 18 speed blue/white mountain bike with an oversize seat from a residence on Miller St. An unlocked vehicle was also rifled through along with several other unlocked vehicles in the neighborhood.

Collision between a blue 2007 Pontiac and a blue 1998 Ford Explorer on Keith Ave in front of the Canadian Wholesale Club. No injuries. Both vehicles sustained severe damage and were towed.

Male walking into the bush at the end of Hanson St carrying a rifle. Police found two men ages 23 and 25 yrs of age shooting at a target attached to a tree. The gun was a pellet gun designed to look like an assault rifle. The gun was seized. Discussions were had with the pair about proper use of the pellet that would not result in calls to the police.

A dump truck opened by mistake on Hwy 16 at Ferry Island dumping a load of gravel on the highway and blocking traffic in both directions for approximately half an hour.

A 17 yr old girl on a long board was struck by a white/grey car at the corner of Davis Ave and Munroe St on May 10 at approximately 12:30 PM. The car did not stop. She suffered minor injuries.

Woman yelling and screaming on Queensway Dr. Police located a passed out 20 yr old woman. Investigation determined that a song she really enjoyed came on the radio. Subsequently she began screaming with excitement and singing along with the lyrics. Her performance exhausted her to the point of passing out. A friend volunteered to take care of her.

AWOL 15 yr old youth. He has been reported missing four times in the past three weeks. The boy called to report that he was not returning home and staying out with friends.

Police observed an intoxicated man staggering out of Christie Park at 10:40 PM on May 10. Checks determined that the 29 yr old man was breaching his recognizance conditions of curfew and no consume alcohol. He was arrested for breach. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

911 call. A 33 yr old woman reported that she had used too much drugs and had become paranoid. Police spoke with her spouse who agreed to call if there were any further problems.

A man and his friend were attacked and assaulted by an intoxicated 20 yr old man who ran away. The men were not cooperative with police. Police located the 20 yr old man a short distance away. He was on conditions of not to consume alcohol. He was arrested for breach of probation. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

Police checked a blue 1979 Ford pickup truck parked on Old Lakelse Lake Dr across from Skeena Valley Concrete. The smell of marihuana was detected. An amount of drugs and alcohol were destroyed at the scene. The 17 yr old driver was issued a driving suspension.

Two friends were drinking together and started to argue. A 25 yr old man punched a 22 yr old man in the face causing minor injury. The 25 yr old man was arrested for assault. Under investigation.

Fight outside of the Best Western Inn on Greig Ave. An intoxicated 35 yr old man was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital for assessment.

Two men were observed drinking beer while riding their bikes on Sparks St near Lazelle Ave. Police checked the men, both 22 yrs of age, and determined they were under the influence of intoxicating substances. They both provided incorrect names. They were arrested for public intoxication. Checks determined that both men had outstanding warrants.

Man panhandling in an aggressive manner in the parking lot of Real Canadian Wholesale. He left prior to police attendance. Police identified the 21 yr old man by the security cameras at the store. He was located on Keith Ave and arrested under the Safe Streets Act. He was released. An hour later he was back panhandling inside of the Mills Memorial Hospital. He left prior to police attendance. Police observed the man attempting to head back to the hospital but upon seeing the police he went back inside of his residence. A third complaint was received four hours later of the same nature. Police arrested him inside of Mills Memorial Hospital for mischief.

Theft of a blu-ray player from Sears. Police attended to house of a 47 yr old man. The stolen blu-ray player was recovered.

Man passed out behind ET Kenney School. Police requested the assistance of BC Ambulance due to the level of the man's intoxication. He was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital. Police arrested the 31 yr old man a short time later on an outstanding warrant. He is held for court.

A red 2011 Chevrolet Impala and a blue 2012 Dodge truck involved in a collision on Hwy 16 west near Denny's Restaurant.

A brown 2007 Chevrolet Equinox and a white 2007 Mazda 3 involved in a collision in front of the RCMP detachment on Eby St. Both vehicles were towed. No injuries.

A black Chevrolet Silverado struck a moose on Hwy 37 south near the airport. The truck sustained major front end damage and was towed. No injuries.

Break and enter to Copperside 6 on Keith Ave at 11:30 PM on May 12. The front door was smashed open and the cigarette cabinet was forced open. Surveillance footage shows the thief is a man in all black clothing carrying a red bag. The Terrace Forensic Identification Section are assisting with the investigation.

A man renting a shop forfeited on his payments. The landlord found a stolen bike inside of the shop and turned it over to the police. The bike is a red CCM 19 inch 21 speed full suspension bike.
