TWO LOCAL arts and culture groups are earmarked for federal government money for projects they have underway.

The Nisga'a Foundation of New Aiyansh will get $8,700 for “Our Canoe has Landed” – 125th anniversary of Nisga'a Land Claims and Northern Native Broadcasting Terrace will receive $326,855 for radio programming.

The money for the Nisga'a Foundation comes from the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program that provides people with more opportunities to take part in activities that present local arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage.

Money for Northern Native Broadcasting comes from the Aboriginal Language Initiative that supports community-based language projects that contribute to the revitalization and preservation of Aboriginal languages and increases their use in community settings.
