The Terrace River Kings showcased their offensive power on Sept. 28, delivering a decisive 8-2 victory over the Hazelton Wolverines at the Terrace Sportsplex. The home team established their dominance early, scoring three unanswered goals in the first period of their home opener, after defeating the Nechako Northstars the day prior.
Terrace's Marcus Mitchell opened the scoring less than three minutes into play, setting the tone for a night where the Wolverines struggled to respond. "We came out strong and stuck to our game plan," said Mitchell, who recorded a hat trick during the game.
Hazelton found some life in the second period when Rajin Khera netted a goal at 3:31, but any momentum was short-lived as Ryan Roseboom answered with a quick goal for Terrace just over a minute later. Jakob McLean followed up with another to keep the pressure on Hazelton.
Entering the third period down 5-1, Hazelton’s Zackery Henry scored at 8:37 with an assist from David Stephens, but Terrace quickly sealed the game with two more goals, including Mitchell’s third of the night, assisted by Nicholas Nordstrom. Robert Orrey’s goal, assisted by Austen McKean, closed the scoring.
