Witches Market and Psychic Fair brings mystical wonder to Terrace

The esoteric arts were on full display at the event, as well as local vendors and artisans

In its 13th year, Terrace's Witches Market and Psychic Fair summoned around 700 people throughout the day on Saturday, May 17, 2025.

Psychics were in demand at the fair as people waited in line, hoping to gain insight, clarity or guidance on difficult situations or unanswered questions about their lives.

Michelle Blackett, a psychic, medium and clairvoyant hedge witch for nearly 30 years, shared that the event brings the community together, suggesting that the energy of the place attracts people. She is the owner of New Age Insights Shop on Lazelle Avenue, which sells everything from witchcraft gear to garden supplies and home decor, as well as offering workshops.

"People make things here, and they're maybe a little bit different. I really like to promote local businesses and artisans and let people know that witchcraft isn't the scary thing. We're all nature lovers. That's pretty much what witchcraft is."

In a 2020 interview with the Terrace Standard, Blackett described being a witch as "a deep adherence to nature and natural law, and attention to the cycles of the Earth and the lives within it."

The corner of Lazelle and Kalum was filled with vendors and artisans set up outside the shop, made easier by Blackett's measure to boost northwest businesses.

"I don't charge anybody to set up a stall, it's all whatever you make is yours," she said. "Everyone came out to support local, which is extremely important right now, especially with our economy."

She plans to run another witches market and psychic fair in September leading up to Halloween.
