Of three fires in the Chilliwack area that started on Aug. 9, two are still burning as of Monday morning.
BC Wildfire is reporting that fire (V11990) was started during a lightning storm that swept through the area. It is being held and is reported to be 0.009 hectares. An initial attack crew was assigned to the fire.
Because the fire is expected to stay under control BC Wildfire will no longer be reporting on this fire, unless there is a change.
The fire is just north of the border, and east of Liumchen Mountain.
Another fire was discovered near Chilliwack Lake, and is being dubbed the Mount Edgar fire. Two tree fallers have been tasked along with the initial attack crew to deal with this fire. It is still listed as 'out of control' but is not a concern to 'community or values' according to the BC Wildfire Service.
That fire is also believed to be caused by a lightning strike to a tree.
The third fire that cropped up on Aug. 9 was 4.9 km west of Tamihi Creek, and was out within 24 hours. That fire (V11970) was listed as 0.1 hectares, but no information regarding crews assigned to the fire is available online. That fire is still listed as being under investigation.
