Terrace Santa run takes ugly turn

The Santa Run is in jeopardy in the sense that the Santa suits are not in yet! So we're changing it to an Ugly Sweater Run.

A Santa run Dec. 8 in Terrace has been converted into an ugly sweater run.

Terrace runner Joe Pelletier has switched the focus on what was to be a 5km Santa run in support of the Make a Wish Foundation Canada.

The original plan depended upon Santa suits being shipped to Terrace yet none have arrived yet. So now Pelletier is encouraging people to show up dressed in their best ugliest sweater.

"The Santa Run is in jeopardy in the sense that the Santa suits are not in yet," Pelletier said late in the afternoon of Dec. 3.

Runners can still register at https://www.hohoholiday5k.com/canada . For $50 runners will get a Santa Claus suit, finisher medal (that turns into a Christmas tree ornament), a timing app and a holiday surprise once delivery conditions improve. Packages will be delivered by courier until the Canada Post labour dispute is settled.

"Running is a fun, community event, and we want to inspire more people to be active and have fun," says Pelletier.

The run takes place Dec. 8 at noon beginning in the Chill parking lot at the eastern end of the Xpilaxha Charles and Emma Nelson Trail.
