"Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most," said Sabrina Silvey, captain of Terrace's Salvation Army branch.

The Terrace Salvation Army has begun its Christmas kettles this winter season to raise to money for its Christmas Hamper program.

Sabrina Silvey, captain of the Salvation Army in Terrace, is aiming to raise $50,000 to support the program and other community services.

"We invite everyone to help us fill the kettles with kindness and hope this holiday season," said Silvey. "Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most."

In recent years, the Army has distributed upwards of 1,000 hampers to people.

Through their program, families will be able to purchase holiday meals with local grocery gift cards. Children aged 0-10 will get toys and children aged 11-17 will get gift cards, "ensuring that every child experiences the magic of Christmas," she said.

Kettles can be found at the following locations: Walmart, Canadian Tire, Save-On-Foods, Safeway, and starting in December, the BC Liquor Store. They will be open from 11 a.m to 7 p.m. Kettles will remain in place until Dec. 24, as in previous years.

"Every year, the community of Terrace and the surrounding area shows incredible generosity and compassion. The Salvation Army is truly grateful for all the support and kindness," said Silvey.
