Around 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, Terrace RCMP received a report of a man who had pointed a firearm at another person, threatening to kill them.
Police were dispatched to the house on the 5200 block of Halliewell Avenue, where they found that the man had returned inside his home. He was the only one inside and would not cooperate with the police who were trying to get him out.
According to police, his behaviour was escalated and he was considered to be barricaded and armed.
Terrace RCMP consulted with the Prince George Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Police Dog Service (PDS) to figure out how to safely arrest him. The man was taken into custody around 3:30 a.m. after ERT and PDS had arrived, and a police dog had bitten him.
He was arrested for pointing a firearm and uttering threats, and was taken to the hospital to receive medical attention for his injury.
Through a search warrant, police seized numerous firearms from the residence. The man was released from custody with a court date for a first appearance and several related conditions.
The investigation is ongoing and results will be submitted to B.C. Prosecution Services to consider the charges.
No further information will be released at this time.
