The Skeena Salmon Arts Fest Society has put out a call to local and regional artists for banner art with the theme of Skeena salmon. The society encourages people to interpret the theme broadly and creatively.
The submission deadline is Mar. 28, 2025.
The banners will be on display in downtown Terrace for a year from July 2025 to July 2026.
Artists will retain the original artwork and all rights, and they will receive $200 for the use of their image. The banners are planned to be sold to the public with all funds going to the Skeena Salmon Arts Fest Society.
The printed banners will be 30" by 60", with digital artwork to be printed in a 24" by 48" frame. If submitting digital artwork, it should be submitted in dimensions of 1 (width) to 2 (height). Digital images of all mediums are eligible, including sculpture, clay, glass, fibre, photography, painting, jewellery and more.
"Please also consider that the images are displayed on light standards, to be viewed briefly by motorists and admired at a distance by pedestrians. Artwork that is bold and brightly coloured will present well on banners," wrote the Skeena Salmon Arts Fest Society.
To submit an entry, sending the following information to skeenasalmonartfest@gmail.com:
- Name, phone number, email address.
- High quality digital image of your artwork (jpeg, tiff, or PDF). Printed photographs of artwork may be mailed to the committee.
- A short artist statement under 40 words.
- An artist webpage link if available.
