Ahead of summer, the City of Terrace has made several improvements to Ferry Island for residents and visitors to enjoy.
Installed on May 22, 2025, the three new carved wooden benches have already been a popular addition for families exploring the island and taking photos, according to the City.
Each bench is uniquely carved by JJs Woodart and paid for by Terrace Community Forest. They are are in three different locations around the island, including one overlooking the pond, another on the main perimeter trail, closer to the east side of the island where the wizard carving, as well as one on the northwest side of the island, just past the section where people can walk under the new bridge.
Other improvements include resurfacing a major section of trail on the west side of the island and a volleyball net to the grassy area near the playground that will stay in place throughout the summer.
The City is also in the process of upgrading the campground picnic tables, replacing the older, blue lumber tabletops with local yellow cedar, which is a "much nicer and more durable material," wrote the City on their Facebook page.
