BC Transit will stop selling its legacy fare products in the Skeena Regional, Terrace Regional, and Kitimat transit systems on Dec. 1. This marks the next stage in the organization’s Electronic Fare Collection System following the launch of the Umo Mobility app in May. The app, along with reloadable Umo cards, is part of a broader new system being deployed across the province.

Riders will no longer be able to purchase the 10 Ride Tickets, Adult Monthly Pass, and Student/Senior Monthly Pass, but any remaining tickets and passes will remain valid until used. The new fare options include single rides, 10-ride packs, and 30-day passes for adults and concession riders. For example, a single adult ride will cost $2.00, while a 30-day adult pass is priced at $44.00. Specific fares for Route 11, which runs between Terrace and Kitimat, are higher, with a 30-day adult pass costing $65.00.

A transit spokesperson said the pricing schedule does not translate into any fare increase.

The organization is also introducing a Umo-compatible token for social wellness organizations providing free or discounted transit services.

For more information on Umo, riders can visit BC Transit’s website or contact Umo customer service at 877-380-8181.
