I’m hoping to see new faces and fresh ideas from the soon-to-be newly-elected councillors to the RDKS (Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine) as well as from our newly -elected, by near landslide, Thornhill rep. Ted Ramsey.
The previous Thornhill rep. and two city councillors on RDKS did little or nothing of significance to enhance Thornhill’s parks and walking trails. With the $35-million weigh scales being built across from 10 acres of Riverfront Park, in-between Costa-Lessa Motel and Copper River Motel, $175k of weigh scales cost should be dedicated to the developments of Thornhill Riverfront Memorial Park for outhouses, gazebo, benches, picnic tables and parking, etc… One per cent of annual taxes from the weigh scales to be used for maintenance. One half kilometre east is a rest area that should be enlarged with added amenities; outhouses, gazebo, etc…
These are just a couple of obvious family areas as well as two or more kilometres each way of walking trail along the scenic Skeena River. Finally I believe the new weigh scales being built in Thornhill should be called Northwest Regional CVSE with signage similar to Northwest Regional Airport, leaving off Terrace-Kitimat and reading instead ‘Tsimshian Territory.’ Go to the website ‘Voice of Thornhill’ and vote for your choice.
