Dear Editor,

The City of Terrace would like to clarify its participation regarding the Suwilaawks after-school program and its effect on the city’s budget for this year, following the publication of The Terrace Standard’s Dec. 19 article: ‘City of Terrace gets first look at 2020 budget’.

This was not a program subsidized by the city. In fact, this was a partnership between the city and the school where we administered the after-school care payroll and, in turn, were reimbursed by the school based on a grant it received.

Because the after-school program is not running in 2020, the city’s corresponding administration costs are not in the proposed 2020 budget.

If the after-school program is offered again, we will continue to support its operation.
