Kudos to Andre Carrel for his excellent column outlining the case for proportional representation. ('The Time for Electoral Reform is Now. Again" The Terrace Standard, May 22, 2025).
Prime Minister Mark Carney should make it a priority to correct former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's error and implement reform immediately.
Our current system exaggerates and exacerbates divisions between us — and at a time when our very sovereignty is under threat, the last thing we need is a national unity crisis.
Proportional representation would ensure that all regions of Canada are represented fairly and instill a more cooperative political culture.
