The Skeena Zone Drama Festival 2013 will be hosted by Terrace Little Theatre for the first time in five years this weekend.

The festival kicks off Friday at 7 p.m. with a meet and greet with adjudicator Garry Davey at the McColl Theatre.

Saturday at 7:30 p.m. is Terrace Little Theatre's production of Perfect Pie, fresh off its recent run.

Sunday sees the On Cue Players from Kitimat present Conflagration at 7:30 p.m. and Harbour Theatre Prince Rupert presents One Spring Morning at 8:45 p.m.

All plays are at the R.E.M. Lee Theatre. No late seating.

Entertainment and awards ceremony will follow.

Winners of the zone festival go on to Theatre BC's annual Provincial Theatre Festival Destination Mainstage, which is in Kamloops this July.

With 10 zones in Theatre BC, there will be 60 to 70 plays competing for one of 10 spots at Destination Mainstage.

Well-known professional director Garry Davey is this year's adjudicator. Davey has been artistic director for TheatreOne in Nanaimo and of the William Davis Centre for Actors Study in Vancouver where he taught acting and directed for many years.

A graduate of The Vancouver Playhouse School, he has worked extensively as an actor in theatres across the country, and appeared in many television productions and feature films.

Skeena Zone Drama Festival tickets are at Misty River Books and at the door.
