SUWILAAWKS COMMUNITY school Parent Advisory Council members present principal Karen Scales with a cheque for $2

EXCHANGE TEACHER Belinda Johnston, here from Australia to teach at Suwilaawks Community School for the school year, brought more with her than her knowledge and accent.

Johnston mentioned that she uses a smart board in her classroom back home to teach her students, an electronic version of a chalkboard, and said she's never used a chalkboard.

Swuwilaawks Grade 2 teacher Teri Seymour started using a smart board in her classroom this past September and other teachers wanted to use it in their classrooms too.

That gave the school's Parent Advisory Council (PAC) the idea to purchase a couple smart boards for the school.

Last week, several members of the PAC gave principal Karen Scales a cheque to pay for a smart board. The PAC will offer up more money to pay for a second smart board for the school too.
