Hobiyee celebrations in Laxgalts'ap wind down tonight with the rising of the moon, but one Terrace school celebrated Hobiyee last week with parents.
Suwilaawks Community School held its own celebration in its gym with students decked out in regalia, the Gitlaxdax dancers and drummers and several songs and dances.
Kindergarten students started it all off with a couple of songs, using their homemade canoes to paddle themselves along to the song.
The dancers and drummers performed several songs, including one made up by children when the first Europeans came to this country.
The captain was walking along the beach with his hands on his hips and the children thought he walked like a crow and came up with a song with movements to show the crow-like movements.
