Quake shake drill drops in this morning

DROP, COVER and Hold On are the important words in the Great BC Shakeout happening this morning around the province and in several homes, business and schools here.

This earthquake drill is intended to raise public awareness about earthquakes in the province, especially after the wreckage caused in Haiti by that country's earthquake one year ago.

At 10 a.m. this morning, participants will follow the official protocol for two minutes to be safe in an earthquake:

Drop to the ground (before the earthquake drops you),

Take cover under a sturdy desk or table and,

Hold On to it until the shaking stops.
