REMEMBER TO hit the streets to pick an ideal spot to watch the Riverboat Days parade this morning.

The parade starts at 11 a.m. at City Hall on Lakelse Ave and travel east, ending at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 13.

In addition to floats, which will be made to look like the theme “A Journey Back in Time”, there will be bands, horses and maybe some candy.

And the city fire truck may wet people down as it passes.

Everyone is invited to come to the Legion after the parade from noon to 2 p.m. for a barbecue lunch and to hear which floats were named best in their category.

Last night's opening ceremonies were held despite a downpour.

Various speakers told jokes about the rain, including Skeena MLA Robin Austin who noted that the difference between rain here and in Prince Rupert is that in Prince Rupert the rain comes at you sideways but in Terrace, it falls straight down.

Master of ceremonies Brian Langston said that if the rain kept up, the Rotary Duck Race would start in George Little Park.
