Patrons invited by the Ksan Society were treated to deluxe four-course meals prepared by culinary students at the Coast Mountains College Terrace campus.

The culinary department at the college hosted dinners on Nov. 24 and 25, feeding around 50 people at the Waap Haawk Cafeteria. Professional culinary students planned and prepared the meals as part of their curriculum.

“We usually go to the food bank every Friday so they know us at Ksan, and when we received the invite to come up out to the College for this, we were blown away,” said Ksan Society guest Gordon Rachel.

“It’s very relaxing and cozy here, we’re just so thankful to experience this during the holiday season.”

Guests had the option of honey glazed sockeye salmon fillet, a roast pork loin, stuffed mushrooms, honey caramel cheesecake, chocolate mousse, and other choices.

So far during the semester, culinary students have been making sandwiches and soups for the Ksan Society once per month, but have not been able to get realtime feedback to their food until now.

“It’s been so encouraging to hear how much everyone loves our food. This event has also given us the creativity to get our plating skills right for every possible dish,” said Mathew Pigeon, professional cook level II student.

CMTN plans to host four more fine dining nights for Ksan Society patrons in early 2022.
