Heritage Park’s 17th annual Halloween Howl is still looking for volunteers for tonight’s trick-or-treat event.

Kelsey Wiebe, museum curator, says it’s all hands on deck this year.

“We’re a little bit tight this year but we’re just going to do whatever we can, ” Wiebe says. The free event will be serving hot chocolate, prizes for best costume and a photo booth. The museum expecting around 1,200 candy-hungry kids to haunt the museum grounds from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight.

Good-hearted ghouls are asked to show up at 4:30 p.m. at 4702 Kerby Ave to help hand out candy and hot chocolate for two hours, with pizza served at the end. Volunteers are asked to dress warm or come dressed in their best Halloween costumes.

“They’re welcome to show up and help out. I’ll be dressed like a banana so they should be able to find me,” Wiebe says.

Wiebe says this is also a great opportunity for families to volunteer together to celebrate the spooktacular evening.

“We often get parents who come with their kids, and they’re often in that age bracket where they’re maybe a little too old to trick-or-treat but they still like Halloween,” Wiebe says. “It’s a nice, easy volunteering opportunity.”
