FOOD BANK numbers increased slightly from March to April's opening for the week, which could've been called "Baby Week," says the president of the Terrace Churches Food Bank.

"In fact, our bag handout count during April was 591 compared to 585 for March," said John Wiebenga, adding that numbers have held pretty steady for the last three months.

"We could almost call the past week 'Baby Week' as many diapers, pull-ups and baby formula were handed out."

There was plenty of cereal to go around as well as lots of fresh produce (thanks to Save-On Foods), he added.

The regular client count was down a bit this past week, but several new people registered.

"We are thankful once again that lots of food was gathered in...to share out this month," said Wiebenga.

"Many volunteers including several young students helped out this month. Thanks to all of you!"

The last food bank before summer will be May 13-16.
