BEAUTIFICATION OF the downtown continued this week with the assembly of a walkway through the old Esso gas station site at the corner of Lakelse Ave. and Emerson St.

Several volunteers sorted out and placed recycled bricks down as a walkway.

Greater Terrace Beautification Society president Chris Hansen said the bricks came courtesy of someone who redid a patio and put new bricks in place of these old ones.

When completed, the walkway and area itself with serve as shortcut and can be used for the artists' walk event, she said.

An information kiosk and rain statues remain to be put in place.

Shrubs and other greenery along with planters were put in earlier this year.

The society has spent years planning and working on what could be done with this area, which was previously fenced off and sat empty after the gas station closed several years ago.
