a dog with canine parvovirus caused the city animal shelter to be shut down during the Christmas break but the shelter has since reopened.
A note seen on the shelter door the week of Jan. 3 said the shelter was closed due to the disease and no new animals could be accepted.
Shelter staff said a dog came in with the disease in December so it was quarantined from the other animals.
It then passed away and the shelter opened again Jan. 10.
