CREDIT UNION WEEK Oct. 15-19 was celebrated at the Northern Savings Credit Union branch in Terrace by distributing $15,000 to a wide variety of community organizations.
Credit union board chair Nirmal Parmar, a Terrace resident, noted the contributions made by community organizations.
“On behalf of the board and employees, I want you to know how much we value the work that you do that is enriching the lives of our communities.” he said.
Parmar praised the Terrace Old Age Pensioners Association for its thrifty meals, saying it gave him pleasure to present Lisa Zorn and Diana Penner from the group with a cheque for $1,500.
It will be used to make improvements in the association’s kitchen located at the Happy Gang Centre.
Each of the Northern Savings Credit Union’s branches distributes $15,000 a year.
