AN ANNUAL giving program from the Northern Savings Credit Union's Terrace branch helps community groups and volunteers through $15,000 in donations.

One of the groups assisted by the credit union this year is Terrace Community Literacy.

Credit union board member Nirmal Parmar and Vida Carson from Northern Savings Financial Services recently presented a $1,250 cheque to Rosemary Craig from Terrace Community Literacy.

It will be used primarily to purchase books, calculators and other take-home items for the MILE family literacy program.

Last year more than 80 adults and 80 children benefitted from direct instruction in time management, reading for pleasure, everyday math, self-responsibility for learning and computer safety.

This year, Terrace Community Literacy wants to offer MILE to 120 families.
