Christmas events abound in Terrace

Cram the Cruiser

This is the 14th year the Terrace RCMP is hosting Cram the Cruiser in conjunction with local grocery stores and the community to collect non-perishable donations for local charities.

The event takes place Dec. 14 at Safeway, Save On Foods and the Real Canadian Wholesale Club between the hours of 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

All non-perishable donations will be shared between the Terrace Churches Food Bank, the Salvation Army and Ksan Place.

"These organizations are always so grateful for the outpouring of generosity from the community," said Terrace RCMP Constable Kelly Cates.

"One charity noted that there has been a significant increase this year in the number of people and homes that are accessing services and in need of food."

Officers at all three locations will be more than happy to hand out candy canes to those donating to fill up their cruisers.

There's even a suggestion Santa will be making the rounds, said Cates.

Heritage Park lights up

Heritage Park Museum is joining up with the Greater Terrace Beautification Society to offer four festive evenings of lights and music. Beginning Dec. 13 and continuing Dec. 14, Dec. 20 and Dec. 21, the park's heritage log cabins will be dressed up with Christmas lights and feature holiday music or carolers.
Entrance to the park is by donation of cash, card, a non-perishable food item or a new toy.  Donations will be forwarded to the Salvation Army for its Christmas hamper program.
The Dec. 13, Dec. 14, Dec. 20 and Dec. 21 hours are all from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The museum is also selling staff-designed Christmas sweaters featuring vintage, local Christmas cards and other merchandise in support of the museum's programs and events. Blue Christmas Service

Knox United Church is holding a service Dec. 19 for those feeling grief through the loss of loved ones. It begins at 7 p.m.

The term 'blue Christmas' in the Western Christian tradition refers to the day in the Advent season marking the longest night of the year, a day when services are held in honour and memory of lost loved ones. Traditionally, 'bue Christmas' falls on or about Dec. 21, the Winter Solstice.

Knox United Church is at 4907 Lazelle Ave.
