Benefit dinner being held for family of smoke damaged townhouse

A BENEFIT dinner for a family whose townhouse suffered heavy smoke damage from a fire next door to it last weekend is being held this afternoon.

The Vance Scodane and Family Benefit Dinner takes place at 5 p.m. today, Friday Jan. 21 at the Terrace Nisga'a Society community room.

Society members are asked to provide food for the dinner.

The Scodane family's townhouse unit was destroyed and damaged by heavy smoke from a fire that occurred in the adjoining unit, said the Terrace Nisga'a Society website, referring to the smoke damaged residence next door to one that caught fire in the early morning of Jan. 16, killing two people.

The dinner is open to everyone and all donations, whether financial or items, are appreciated.

The family is also looking for bedding, blankets, comforters, sheets, pillow cases, beds and housefold furniture.

A list of needed clothing is as follows:

--Girls' size 3 and 4 clothing, shoes size 9, boots size 10;

--girls' size 7 or 8 clothing, shoe size 13;

--boys wear 14 size y shoes or runners;

--two teenage boys pants size 32, shirt or top size medium to large depending on the make, size 12 shoes, size 11 shoes;

--father--pants size 32, top is medium to large, size shoe 10;

--mother--pants size 14, top size medium to large, shoe size 9.
