ANOTHER DONATION for the renovation project at the Happy Gang Centre to make it more accessible to its members was given out earlier this week.
Northern Savings Credit Union staff members came by to present a cheque for $1,000 to BC Old Age Pensioners Organization Branch 73 president Barbara Nelson Tuesday, Feb. 8.
Seniors are in the process of collecting donations for the renovations, which will add an elevator to the building so people can get down to the basement easier, rather than take the steep stairs, and to even out the basement floor which had a raised portion in its centre for floor curling and carpet bowling.
The raised floor was deemed unsafe.
The seniors organization kicked off the $90,000 project late last fall with a $45,000 donation from its own pockets.
Since then, many donations have come in for the renovations, taking the collected amount up to about $70,000.
