Terrace dance studio Art in Motion (AIM) took home 16 placements of either first, second or third in several categories at the 42nd Prince George Dance Festival (PGDF) between March 17 and March 23.

After hours of choreography, training and rehearsal under the direction of Laura Archibald and Emily Hart, the 22 AIM groups comprised of 30 company dancers took home five trophies from Prince George, four in categories for performers aged 12 and under. The trophy awards included highest mark winners in Classical Ballet, Small Jazz Group, Lyrical Group, Hip Hop Group, and Classical Ballet Duet.

One performer Braya Kluss was chosen to compete in the B.C. Festival of Performing Arts in May as the provincial representative in the junior modern category.

“These are all fabulous results given the depth of the field and the amazingly talented dancers they competed against,” wrote Tracey Hart in an email to the Standard.

“All of the AIM dancers left feeling very positive about their performances and with smiles on their faces, eager to perform again!”

Art in Motion will be participating in the upcoming 2018 Pacific Northwest Music Festival (PNMF) which begins April 11 and runs until April 28.

Hart said the AIM dancers are currently training intensely over the next three weeks to represent the Terrace community at the REM Lee Theatre.
