AIR Canada Jazz is adding a fourth flight six days a week beginning this spring to meet passenger demand.
It also kept its last spring and summer schedule of three flights a day over the winter months to also meet demand, Air Canada Jazz official Angela Mah said last week.
“We monitor all of our markets to ensure we have the right number of flights,” she said.
The fourth flight is with an aircraft that will come in during the evening and leave at 6:30 the next morning.
Mah called it a way for someone to leave Terrace and return the same day.
“We saw an opportunity to put a fourth flight on, we believe there is a demand for it,” said Mah of the business traveller.
“It is also for people who have onward connections from our Vancouver hub,” she said.
Air Canada Jazz will use a 37-passenger Dash 8-100 for the fourth flight and keep to 50-passenger Dash aircraft for its other flights.
There’s no indication yet when Air Canada Jazz might introduce newer Dash Q-400 series aircraft on its Vancouver-Terrace run.
The airline has been bringing them into service in central Canada and are gradually adding them in western Canada. The Q-400 series is quieter and faster than the other Dash aircraft.
“We’ve made no decisions,” said Mah of where the aircraft might be used in B.C.
