Biathlon club receives a boost
The biathlon chapter of the Terrace Rod and Gun club has received a much welcomed grant recently.
The club has received $4,000 from Biathlon Canada, which local president Chris Schooner said will be used to train coaches and adults so they can in turn pass that training down to youths and children in the club.
“It means that we will be able to better train our coaches, better train a lot of the volunteers that we have coming out, and basically make it so we can have more fun,” Schooner said.
The group also received a new competition air rifle for younger participants, which is lighter and less expensive to run.
Schooner invites anyone interested in biathlon to come out to a Saturday morning practice at the Terrace Rod and Gun Club. Practices run from 9:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The first competition for the Terrace Biathlon Club will be January 7 and 8 in Burns Lake.
