Terrace bantam advances in U16

Kenneth Nordstrom has made it through to the next round of selections in the U16 Bantam Cup.

This puts the fifteen-year-old defenceman in the ranks of the top 52 bantams in the province.

“It was a really good experience,” Nordstrom said of the last selection camp in Kamloops April 28 – May 1. “It was tougher than I have ever played before.”

He said a great thing about the camp was its team-building system, which got all of the players working together.

Nordstrom was the only player from Terrace to make the cut and is joined by Kitimat’s Michael Bell in representing the region west of Prince George.

Both will head to another round of selections at a camp in Penticton at the end of this month.

During the camp players will be shortlisted down to 30.

If Nordstrom makes this list he will be watched during his next year of hockey from September to mid-November when 20 players will be selected to represent B.C. in the Western Bantam Challenge at the Canada Winter Games.

And the Terrace hockey player has plenty more on the go for the upcoming season. Nordstrom recently returned from the WHL’s Regina Pats orientation week, where he was invited to attend its next camp in mid-August.

He also plans to try out for the Prince George Cougars Major Midget team  in early August.
