To the editor:
Thank you to Marisca Bakker for her column, “Moose parasites just ticking along,” Interior News, April 11, 2024. I always enjoy her columns in the newspaper. However, the regarding moose ticks really upset me.
Just typical that the government would say “no problem”. I would say the moose are suffering. There are no moose walking around downtown Vancouver or Victoria and I am sure they do not eat moose meat there so the government would not know there is a problem.
This is a great food source for us northerners. We have already lost most of our salmon.
That the government would say there is nothing they can do is ridiculous. Look at all the time and energy put into saving a whale on Vancouver Island.
I hope some knowledgable people in this north country will try to do something for these animals. They deserve better.
