Dear Sir:
When I heard Jack Talstra was in hospital it was one of those ‘uh oh’ moments. Uh oh, why didn’t I write that letter saying ‘thank you’ for his years of good humoured service and loyalty.
Although to be honest, I don’t recall the speeches and photo-ops but I can still smile at memories of Jack, tall and scrawny, making me and my sister laugh as we goofed around on the toboggan hill behind the Kalum trailer court.
Who knew then he’d lead such a worthwhile and interesting life? Thanks Jack, for all of it.
