Dear Sir:
Sorry to quibble, but I head-counted only 71 (max!) and not “at least 100” attendees at Christy Clark’s July 7 Terrace town hall performance. Perhaps the poor attendance was due to the nearly negligible advance notice – 48 hours, wasn’t it?
Obviously, the crowd control precaution really worked! The assemblage of usual suspects looked a lot like a joint meeting of the chamber of commerce, the Liberal constituency association, and the school board.
Which is sort of what the Premier’s office (or at least her seven-member travelling “event team”) likely had in mind – a little meet ‘n’ greet to show the colours in the Northwest – more slowpitch than hardball.
It’s just too sad that it had to be on the taxpayers’ dime.
John How,
Terrace, B.C.
