Groups only get a little money

Dear Sir:

This is about the debate over the funding of environmental organizations.

It is so sad that the organization Ethical Oil and opinion writers such as Vivian Krause do not get it.

Some environmental organizations receive a relatively small amount of American money.  The majority of grassroots groups campaigning to stop the Enbridge oil pipeline receive none.

Membership fees, local fundraising and donations finance the volunteer work carried out.

We welcome the help and money from outside of our area; regardless we would have found a way to spread our message.

Our goal is to preserve existing commerce, sustenance and lifestyles that are in harmony with the rich and varied fish, wildlife, and rare and special ecosystems that are threatened by the Enbridge pipeline.

Any influence aimed at American institutions and individuals to stop funding will not succeed.  Many thousands of people will continue to do what is right. Divisive tactics will only increase our resolve.

Northwesterners are not stupid. We understand the enormous amount of international money and lobbying power that originates from outside of our country to support Enbridge.

Believing this flow of money is okay and somehow does not skew the message to Canadians is astonishing and immoral.
