Remembering Teresa Derksen -
Our little girl with the auburn curl,
Your sparkling eyes and ready smile
Brought joy to all when you were a child
We knew you’d been lent to us
For just a little while
But as we polished and loved
This beautiful little gem,
We prayed each day for parental wisdom
But unseen evils around you swirled,
Just wanting to sweep away our little girl
You fought so bravely for so long
And lost the battle in the end.
As you slipped the bonds of this painful place
Who did you see but your Daddy’s face
Welcome, my little girl with the auburn curl
How’s Mom and the boys, and the rest of the bunch?
We’ll see them later, but now for some lunch.
It’s still ham sandwich and chicken soup? Swell !
Then I’ll show you around, I know it well.
‘Til now you’ve seen only knots and cut threads of the tapestry
Now you’ll see the whole picture in all its majesty.
With Love, Mom to you, daughter - You are at peace.
