MCVEY- Stuart Moffatt passed away on April 18, 2004 quietly at Nanaimo Regional Hospital after a long courageous battle with cancer. Stuart was born on September 23,1922 in Murrayville, B.C. He leaves behind his loving wife Vivian, son Paul, and daughter Karen, grandsons Aaron and Joshua, his big sister Chris, and many nephews and nieces who will miss their “Uncle Red”. Stuart was a career “West Coast” logger, who spent his life after military service during WWII, logging up and down the west coast of British Columbia. He settled in Terrace, B.C. in 1964, where he worked for several local contactors in the Terrace and Prince Rupert areas. In 1969, he started Unicorn Logging, which logged in the Terrace and Kitimat areas until operations were moved to the Kelsey Bay area in the late 1970’s, and Jervis Inlet in the early 1980’s. It was in 1983 that Stuart and Vivian settled in Nanaimo, and purchased their house on Hammond Bay Road, where they lived until Stuart retired in 1990. Stuart was able to live out his remaining time with us at his home near Westwood Lake, in the care of his wife Vivian, until his final days when he was called home to meet his maker on April 18, 2004 The family vvishes to thank Dr. Janssen for the most excellent attention and care provided, as well as the Public Health nurses and the Home Care workers. They were able to provide qluality support and assistance to allow Stuart to enjoy and live his last remaining time at home. A celebration of life will be held in the chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services, 27555 31 Ave in Aldergrove (Langley), B.C. on Friday April 30, 2004 at 2:0O PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in the name of Stuart McVey.
