Pastor Ronald Owen

JOHNSON

June 19, 1937 - July 20, 2006

Pastor Ronald Owen Johnson passed away at MMH in Terrace with his wife Mabel and daughter Coleen at his bedside. He’d been battling cancer since Nov. 2005.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mabel, sons Trevor (Crystal) of Lacombe, Alta., and George (Suzanne) of Williams Lake, daughters Lorna Johnson and Coleen Hayes both of Aldergove, brother Kenneth of Vernon, step-mother Betty, step-siblings Evan, Jean, Rose, Kathy, Gary, Ted, Norman and Cindy and five grandchildren.

Ron grew up in Northern Alberta & B.C. He worked in the logging industry for 10 years. He studied theology at Canadian University College in Lacombe Alta. in 1969 in response to his call to the ministry. He became a pastor for 19 years and and evangelist for 10 years for the 7th Day Adventist church in western Canada.

He went to the Ukraine three times to do evangelism and raised up 5 churches there. One series was attended by the biblical gift of tongues; although a translator was present, many in the audience heard him in their native Russian for 21 nights without the help of the translator.

Ron was pastoring the 7th Day Adventist Church at the time of his death.

Ron loved music. He sang and played his guitar for other travelling evangelists and also for his own evangelistic and pastoral ministires. He loved life and believed in “living life to the full”. In every way he practiced what he preached - he drove fast cars, big trucks, big D-8 cats, cool (motor) bikes and even owned and flew an airplane. He said “the greatest thrill known to man is saving souls” and every moment he lived to obey the great commission to do just that for his God and friend, Jesus Christ.
