Richard (Dick) Braathen

August 17, 1930

December 28, 2010

Dick was born in Invermere, BC and was raised in Windemere and Prince George. Dick attended Ranger School at Green Forests in Surrey BC and moved to Terrace in January 1958 to accept a position as Assistant Ranger with the BC Forest Service. Dick worked in the forestry and logging industry, which he loved, until his retirement due to health reasons in 1990.

Dick was active in the Elks Lodge in his early years in Terrace, and was an avid curler. In his later years he enjoyed reading, gardening, walks and playing pool at the Legion.

Dick is survived by his daughter Diana (Patrick McIntyre) of Terrace; sons Harold and Steven of Langley, BC; and nieces June Stidel of Vancouver and Dora Loughheed of Calgary.

Thank you to the staff at Mills Memorial Hospital, in particular the nurses who cared for Dad in ICU and Palliative Care.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Dr. REM Lee Foundation.

Dad was a strong and independent man and died the way he lived, on his own terms.
