Mary Fehr passed away in Vernon, B.C. July 12th, 2011 on the day of her 80th birthday.

She is survived by her loving family: two daughters, Josie (Ruben) and Rosie (Anton); two sons, Kurtis (Debbie) and Roger (Sonja); two granddaughters, Erin and Ellen; five sisters, four brothers, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Isaac, in 1989, and by seven brothers and one sister.

Mom loved to watch baseball. She played softball and was a much sought after pitcher. She also loved to listen to ‘Hockey Night in Canada’ on the radio. Mom was an incredibly hard worker. She loved gardening, cooking large meals, and baking lots of bread. After her retirement, Mom travelled extensively: Russia, Philippines, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, cruised the Caribbean and Alaska. Her favourite trip was travelling Canada coast to coast.

Mary was a long time Terrace resident who made her home in the Horseshoe Area from 1966 to 1990. She worked at a variety of jobs in Terrace including school custodian, tree planter, and grounds keeper, tending the flower beds and lawns for the City of Terrace.

The Celebration of Life for Mary was held at the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home in Vernon with Rev. Bob Thompson officiating. Mary’s eulogy was given by her four children, and one of her favourite songs, “You Are My Sunshine” was accompanied on the piano by her granddaughter, Erin. Following the service, tea was held at Josie’s home in Vernon.

Mary’s remains were laid to rest beside her husband in the Terrace Cemetery in a private ceremony on July 29th, 2011.
