Maria Giovanna Durando passed away peacefully on April 16, 2015. She leaves behind her children Paola (Albert), Max (Brenda) and Eric (Margret), and her grandchildren Daniel, Natasha, Carter and Craig. Her husband Giuseppe passed away in 2008. Her brother Enrico passed in early life. Her siblings Carmen and Luciano remain, along with their families.
Maria emigrated from the Dolomiti region of Italy at age 25. She came to Terrace in 1959 by steamship and rail. On arrival she married Giuseppe, her husband of 49 years. She raised her family with an appreciation of its roots and a commitment to family values. She was deeply attached to her community of friends.
Her family thanks Dr. De Bruin, and all of Maria’s caregivers at her home, at the hospital, and at Terraceview. We also thank her friends and Father Terry Brock for their support to her over the years.
A funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Parish in Terrace on Monday, May 4, 2015 at
1:30 pm. Donations in Maria’s memory may be offered to her parish, the Hospital Auxiliary, or the Pacific Northwest Music Festival.
