Margaret Adele

Wyatt

October 20, 1926

January 31, 2010

Margaret was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Joseph (“Ham”) and Margaret Alice Layng and moved with her family to New Westminster as a teenager. She was the youngest of five children, two girls and three boys. Only her sister Elizabeth, the first born, is still living at 99 years old.

Margaret met Harold in 1945 at a dance in New Westminster and they married in February, 1947. In 1961, Margaret and Harold and their four children left the Fraser Valley for Terrace. After living in town for a short time, they settled down in Thornhill.

Margaret loved meeting new people, so working as an enumerator for Statistics Canada was a perfect fit. She also enjoyed working at the Mills Memorial Hospital Auxialiary Gift Shop and Thrift Store. Margaret was Grandma to a number of children she babysat. She loved animals and was especially fond of her dogs and cats. Horses were a large part of the Wyatt family for many years and Margaret was always there to lend a hand. In earlier years, Margaret enjoyed singing in the church choir. She had a beautiful soprano voice.

Margaret will be sadly missed by her loving husband Harold, daughter Beverley Boutilier (Bill), Son Darryl (Diane) and Daughter Elaine Besuijen (Jack); Grandchildren: Neil (Kathryn), Angela, Christina (Lane), Cynthia (Newman), Justin, Tristan, Margaret, Jefferey, Rebecca and nine great grandchildren.

Margaret was predeceased by her son Theodore (“Ted”) in 2003 and Grandson Shawn in 2005.

The family is comforted to know that Ted and Shawn will be there to look after Mom and Grandma.

A memorial service was held February 13, 2010 at the Elks Hall.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to all those who showed their support with kind words, food and floral tributes and to the members of the Ladies of the Royal Purple and Elks.
